How to get to Geneva?

Here’s our detailed guide on how to get to Geneva, Switzerland. You can easily fly, drive, or catch a bus or train to Geneva, here’s a guide to those options.

Arriving by plane

AIRPORT – GENEVA
The airport is located 30 minutes from the CICG by public transport:

  • Take Bus Line 5 (direction Thonex-Vallard) from the airport (Genève-Aéroport-Terminal station) to Vermont stop.

If you prefer to take a taxi, the transfer takes approximately 15 mins. (depending on traffic)

Arriving by train

It will take you an average of 10 minutes to get from Cornavin Train Station to the CICG with one of the following four options:

Bus 5: Depart from Cornavin Station and get off at the Vermont stop.
Bus 8: Depart from Cornavin Station and get off at the UIT stop.
Tram 15: Depart from Cornavin Station and get off at the Sismondi stop.
On foot: About 20 minutes.

The Geneva train station handles regional and some long-distance trains and is in the city center.

Free public transport card

When you stay in Geneva, you will receive a free digital version of the Geneva Transport Card. This card enables you to use public transport free of charge in Geneva for the duration of your stay.

The card is personal and non-transferable and grants you free access to Geneva’s public transport network UNIRESO: buses (TPG), trains (CFF), and boats (Mouettes genevoises). It is unlimited for the entire duration of your stay.

Three days prior to your arrival, you will receive a link by email enabling you to get your Geneva Transport Card on your smartphone. You will then be able to use it to reach your accommodation from the airport.
